Again, one of my pet peeves in the media and in the political three ring circus, is self-absorbed claim that man is the sole cause of the world’s current climate change. How can we be so arrogant to lay such claims without a true inkling of the global climate dynamics?
Every night the talking heads only broadcast at most a 5 day weather forecast. Why? Because they cannot say for certain what will happen beyond that point, yet all these so called experts can claim that man-made carbon emissions are wreaking havoc on global temperatures and will cause the collapse of the world’s social systems within decades.
I found David Deming’s Washington Times commentary on Global Cooling today of note. So let’s consider some facts he posts…
- In 2007, hundreds of people died, not from global warming, but from cold weather hazards.
- In Buenos Aires, snow fell for the first time since the year 1918.
- In Peru, 200 people died from the cold and thousands more became infected with respiratory diseases.
- Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years.
- On Dec. 7, St. Cloud, Minn., set a new record low of minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit. On the same date, record low temperatures were also recorded in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Does this discount global warming? According to David, evidently not.
In 2005, a Canadian Greenpeace representative explained “global warming can mean colder, it can mean drier, it can mean wetter.”

Haven’t even had my first cup of coffee this morning when this little bit of news was sitting in my inbox.
CNN) — Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for their work to raise awareness about global warming.
Astounding isn’t it? Here’s what the Nobel Foundation had to say.
“for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change”
Since 1901, the Nobel Prize has been honoring men and women from all corners of the globe for outstanding achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and for work in peace.
Which all brings up some question; how valid is the science behind Gore and the IPCC? What has Gore really done aside from make a debatable issue more visible? Has he solved global warming, has he given us the tools to fix the problem?
In fact, the whole concept of MMGW is starting to crumble, especially after NASA got some of the data wrong. After getting this prize, old Al Gore will feel vindicated and no doubt bluster himself up to begin another insufferable round of “doomsday” predictions.

This is making the round in the blogosphere. Today, Hot Air has posted this article: Blog Archive » Bombshell? NASA revises recent U.S. temperatures downward after Y2K bug fix.
I’ve posted in the past, but not recently, some counter arguments floating around out there against the theory of man-made global warming. I’m going to follow this one to see if anything really pans out.
Having done some work in the past on Y2K issues on bio-medical equipment, I do know that the situation is plausible. We never had any catastrophic device failures, but did experience minor, but fixable glitches because of the Y2k bug.

You can see my previous postings here (Great Global Warming Swindle), here (GW Will Help Us All) and here (St. Gore).
Bottom line, the story doesn’t discredit the theory of warming, but calls into question the estimations of when it started, which then questions what are theorized as the leading causes.
As Hot Air says, expect some real push back from the Enviro-Hawks. That is, if the story gets any real media coverage. One question though, why is NASA revising the temperatures, not NOAA?

Fresh from the wire, Reuters is reporting that Global Warming will induce increased wind shear, thereby tearing apart potential hurricanes during their formation. The United States stands to save billions of federal emergency money by not having to move folks out of their waterlogged homes in New Orleans. This money saved can then go back to pay those minimum wage hikes the Dems have been bleating about.

Call the Dems, notify the Official Order of the Sanctimonious Climatologists, phone the Meteorology Ministers and tell them to increase global warming! It’ll save us big bucks!!
By Jim Loney
MIAMI (Reuters) – Global warming could increase a climate phenomenon known as wind shear that inhibits Atlantic hurricanes, a potentially positive result of climate change, according to new research released on Tuesday.

Hat Tip to Barking Moon Bat Early Warning System for finding this little tid-bit about St. Gore, Patron Saint of Global Warming, ne: Climate Change. It was an older post and we don’t seem to hear much more about it. I’m assuming that either people don’t fret as much about GW/CC or the media has simply moved on…

Mike Lester – Rome News-Tribune (GA)
Al Gore defends his extraordinary personal energy usage by telling critics he maintains a “carbon neutral” lifestyle by buying “carbon offsets,” but the company that receives his payments turns out to be partly owned and chaired by the former vice president himself.
Gore has built a green money-making machine capable of eventually generating billions of dollars for investors, including himself, but he set it up so that the average Joe can’t afford to play on Gore’s terms.
Gore has described the lifestyle he and his wife Tipper live as “carbon neutral,” meaning he tries to offset any energy usage, including plane flights and car trips, by “purchasing verifiable reductions in CO2 elsewhere.”
But it turns out he pays for his extra-large carbon footprint through Generation Investment Management, a London-based company with offices in Washington, D.C., for which he serves as chairman. The company was established to take financial advantage of new technologies and solutions related to combating “global warming,”.
Generation Investment Management’s U.S. branch is headed by a former Gore staffer and fund-raiser, Peter S. Knight, who once was the target of probes by the Federal Election Commission and the Department of Justice.
