Obama Listens to Generals Just Like Mr. Bush…

Okay, take yourselves back to March 2008.

Obama said that while President Bush has said that he follows the advice of his generals regarding Iraq, when they give the president advice he doesn’t like — cautioning against the War in Iraq, for example — Bush doesn’t listen to them.

Let’s move forward to September 2009.

The top military commander in Afghanistan warns in a confidential assessment of the war there that he needs additional troops within the next year or else the conflict “will likely result in failure.”

And here we are today…

Several weeks worth of war cabinet meetings have not made Obama’s staff and NSC advisers any more comfortable with Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s troop request.
They say that President Obama continues to be skeptical about the true applicability of the Iraq model, even allowing for McChrystal’s insistence that it can be modified enough.

Is “Green Jobs Advisor” Van Jones for real?

"I met all these young radical people of color — I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of,’" he said in a 2005 interview with the East Bay Express. Jones told the newspaper he stayed in San Francisco, and for the next 10 years worked with a lot of the people he met in jail. Months after the King verdict came down, Jones said, "I was a communist."

House Democrats Health Plan

House Democrats are preparing to advance legislation that would deliver on President Barack Obama’s promise to remake the nation’s costly health care system and cover some 50 million uninsured by taxing and penalizing the wealthy and employers.

Amazingly simple isn’t it?  And guess what, you and I who are Joe Taxpayer don’t have to be taxed for it, only the rich.  They don’t need all that money do they?  Oh wait, not so easy?

Congressional plans to fund a massive health-care overhaul could have a job-killing effect on New York, creating a tax rate of nearly 60 percent for the state’s top earners and possibly pressuring small-business owners to shed workers.

Fannie Mae Eases Credit to Aid Mortgage Lending

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets — including the New York metropolitan region — will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers. These borrowers whose incomes, credit ratings and savings are not good enough to qualify for conventional loans, can only get loans from finance companies that charge much higher interest rates — anywhere from three to four percentage points higher than conventional loans.

”Fannie Mae has expanded home ownership for millions of families in the 1990’s by reducing down payment requirements,” said Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae’s chairman and chief executive officer. ”Yet there remain too many borrowers whose credit is just a notch below what our underwriting has required who have been relegated to paying significantly higher mortgage rates in the so-called subprime market.”

The financial collapse, focused on mortgages given to ITIN holders and Section 8 Housing recipients, is where your government openly told regulators in the banking industry to back off and make loans to under- and un-qualified individuals.

Special note: This mortgage collapse is directly tied to illegal alien “comprehensive legislation” that went no where two years ago. In the end, we will be paying for ITIN and Section 8 individuals walking out of their over-mortgaged homes stripped of the A/C, ranges, refrigerators, and packed up flat screens, DVD’s, PC’s and XBox all at your expense. 

The IRS issues ITINs to individuals who are required to have a taxpayer identification number but who do not have, and are not eligible to obtain, a Social Security Number (Washington code speak for illegal aliens). ITINs are issued regardless of immigration status because “nonresident aliens” may have Federal tax return and payment responsibilities under the Internal Revenue Code. Individuals must have a filing requirement and file a valid federal income tax return to receive an ITIN, unless they meet an exception (Washington code for illegal aliens are working in the US and must pay federal tax).

Video taken at the scene shows a man, wearing the uniform of a Boulder County sheriff, ordering Eslocker off the sidewalk in front of the hotel, to the side of the entrance.

The sheriff’s officer is seen telling Eslocker the sidewalk is owned by the hotel. Later, he is seen pushing Eslocker off the sidewalk into oncoming traffic, forcing him to the other side of the street.

I teach a class on Information Systems, based upon the “Systems of System Analysis”, and touch on both formal and informal communications.  I find today’s news of Barack Obama’s use of texting his choice to his followers a very telling sign of the future of media.

Barack Obama’s choice for a running mate was texted and emailed to supporters shortly after 3am this morning, though word had leaked out to reporters a couple of hours earlier that he’d chosen Sen. Joe Biden, a veteran lawmaker from Delaware. The text message: “Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on http://www.BarackObama.com. Spread the word!”

Let’s go back several decades and remember Marshall McLuhan.

“The Medium is the Message”.  (Actually, the first title of the book was “The Medium is the Massage”.  But that’s another story.)  In this case, Obama is showing his connections to current trends, showing he’s one of the younger generations – distancing himself from the geriatric Republican voters.  And by joining formal politics with informal mediums, he’s definitely sending a powerful, yet subtle message.
