Found this article over at Hot Air. Seems the Bay Area city is pushing to zone Military Recruiters much like Adult-oriented businesses.
Outrage: Berkeley proposal would regulate military recruiting centers like adult businesses
From the Daily Californian, In response to a Marine Corps recruiting office established in Berkeley last year, local activists are trying to make it more difficult for future recruiting centers to open in the city.
If passed by a majority of Berkeley voters, a proposed initiative would require military recruiting offices and private military companies in Berkeley to first acquire a special use permit.
To obtain this permit, a business must hold public hearings and a public comment period.
So, what does Berkeley councilwoman Dona Spring really think about it?
“I do want to do something, whatever we can do, to shut down an agency that offends our public standards,” she said. “It’s a detriment, it’s a danger to the public.”
This is from the same part of the state that lets gays march nude through its streets and engage in public sexual acts… Remember the Folsom Street Fair? I won’t link to that cuz most of the sites aren’t the kind you really want to see. But, Google at your own risk.
Here’s what I gotta say to Dona. I hope you never have another earthquake or fire in San Francisco, cuz we won’t be sending in the National Guard to help your poor devastated butts, since they’d only be a danger to the public…

To the citizens of Berkley:
I returned from Vietnam in 1970 after being awarded the purple heart (twice) for being shot and being bayonetted. On a 72 hour pass myself and several Marines went to see Berkley and the surrounding area as a possible place to live upon discharge. Although in uniform, we were treated like trash and with outright contempt.
As I read now you are trying to stop the recruiting offices of our Armed Forces from being in your City. Do you not understand that throughout history men and women have fought and died for you and your contemptous attitudes? Where is the love of our country and it’s way of life? Where is the love of freedom?
I can only imagine that when the time comes the citizens of Berkley will be crying the loudest for protection.
You disgust me! In my opinion you should not be breathing the air of freedom. Demand of your Representative that you become a seperate state as those who love freedom do not want you in the same country as we live.

This is so disgusting, I hardly know what to say. These hypocrites are the very ones who will be whining when they get hit by some over zealous terroist – demanding that the government should have known and prevented it – right on the heels of their rounds petitioning to impeach the president and outlaw God.
