Wow, a Beer Post…
Realized just now that it’s been far too long for a beer post. Some of my past readers may remember my odes to St. Pauli, Blue Moon or Provo Girl Pilsner. Several months ago I posted a video of the Heineken Draught Beer robot-girl. Well, yesterday I bought one.
No, not the “robot-girl”, but a draught keg. Got a great picture below of the full gallon of Heineken goodness.
Notice how the fridge is bare except for the most essential element of life? Beer! Hey, it’s full of nutrients, carbs and stuff. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. I’m just wondering how long a full 5 liters of beer lasts…

Berkeley Hates the Military
Found this article over at Hot Air. Seems the Bay Area city is pushing to zone Military Recruiters much like Adult-oriented businesses.
Outrage: Berkeley proposal would regulate military recruiting centers like adult businesses
From the Daily Californian, In response to a Marine Corps recruiting office established in Berkeley last year, local activists are trying to make it more difficult for future recruiting centers to open in the city.
If passed by a majority of Berkeley voters, a proposed initiative would require military recruiting offices and private military companies in Berkeley to first acquire a special use permit.
To obtain this permit, a business must hold public hearings and a public comment period.
So, what does Berkeley councilwoman Dona Spring really think about it?
“I do want to do something, whatever we can do, to shut down an agency that offends our public standards,” she said. “It’s a detriment, it’s a danger to the public.”
This is from the same part of the state that lets gays march nude through its streets and engage in public sexual acts… Remember the Folsom Street Fair? I won’t link to that cuz most of the sites aren’t the kind you really want to see. But, Google at your own risk.
Here’s what I gotta say to Dona. I hope you never have another earthquake or fire in San Francisco, cuz we won’t be sending in the National Guard to help your poor devastated butts, since they’d only be a danger to the public…

Oh, what a night!
Spent last night in a house full of Packer’s fans and a couple Giant’s fans. Hoo, boy, what an experience. In OT, Tyne get’s the chance to redeem himself after two disastrous attempted field goals. Getting fired was probably going through his mind if he missed the third one on the 40 something yard try.
Whaddyaknow, put’s it through the uprights with room to spare. Third Tyne’s a charm!!!
Thought the world had come to an end as every Packer fan in the place screamed out loud.

The Court Jester
Such simple pleasures on a long weekend. After a particularly grueling work week, I thought I’d plant myself in front of the tube, laptop at my left hand, black berry on my right and indulge myself in techno-geekery and classic movies.
Couple of Danny Kaye movies later and I stumbled on this smile inducing sketch. Anyone remember this?
I’d heard the line before years ago, I think it was one of my old high school buddies who was a cinephile at the time. Even more recently, one of my big-brained instructor-partners goes into the routine after particularly troublesome staff meetings.
I didn’t realize the following ladies starred in The Court Jester with Danny Kaye? Of course, had I seen the original film artwork (as shown up top), I wouldn’t have been so surprised. I most remember Glynis from Mary Poppins. And who doesn’t think of Murder, She Wrote when we see Angela Lansbury.

Balancing Plates on Sticks
There have been some long hours and hard days lately, crowding out my chances to add some meaningful content. I deeply appreciate the continued traffic while distractions and obligations keep me away from my writing.
New organizational structure, new personnel. Process choke points, both human and non-human, multiplicity of tasks, reduction of resources. Oh, the pain of senior level organizational leadership..
No longer beholden to direct leadership, I’m pulled in every direction…
Be back real soon, folks.

I’m back and it’s 2008?
Have you noticed that as we get older time compresses? Okay, maybe I have an amazing grasp of the obvious, but time just seems to be getting faster and faster. Yesterday seems just minutes ago, last week like yesterday and 10 years ago seems like last year. I pretty much feel this way all the time now, but the impression is far more poignant every time the calendar rolls over to a new year.
Didn’t mean to be gone so long, but I promised myself to stay away from the blog while on leave back in SoCal. The intent was to focus on family and the holiday. Worked pretty well too! Here’s a re-cap of the last two weeks or so of a long deserved vacation…
Went to Disneyland; swiftly becoming an annual holiday ritual. Household 6 got season passes for the kids and herself so they’ll probably be making monthly trips to the happiest place on earth.
Enjoying my brand new “refurb” Blackberry Pearl. You think with an MBA in Technology Management that I’d be more hip on today’s techno-geekery, but sad to say it ain’t so. Threw myself on Mama’s mercy and asked for a new phone for Christmas. She shrewdly got me the BBP through an upgrade and I’m happy to have a new gadget. It calls, IM’s, texts, plays MP3’s, syncs with email, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes with a QWERTY type keyboard and scroll ball.
Put my 15 year old daughter behind the wheel and gave her the first driving lesson ever. What scared me was not her driving ability, which wasn’t too bad for a first effort, but the fact that she’s tall enough and old enough to drive. Guess I better start thinking about getting her a car. Do they make them solely out of rubber and go no faster than 15 miles per hour?
Been a great, but hectic two weeks. But, now its back to work and the realities of the world. So much has happened in two weeks, gonna take awhile to catch up…
