Is there anyone out there who feels like I do; that all this undue attention to these WTC (9/11) conspiracy theorists is just making matters worse? Really, blogs like PM, Captain’s Quarters and LGF and others seem to giggle and laugh at the absurdity of it all, calling the 9/11 ”truthers” silly little names (troofers). But, it just seems to make matters worse.
Maybe I’m wrong, but in this instance, wouldn’t it be better just to watch them make fools of themselves and not goad them on? Sure, I agree that they offer some pretty silly “grassy knoll” ideas and continue to analyze the whole tragedy based on sound bites, grainy photos and spurious arguments, but let’s let them make fools of themselves without antagonizing them.
The unscientific approach is fairly obvious to the average viewer/listener anyway. I doubt anyone with any common sense would believe them. After all, the conspiracy theorists provide plenty of opinion, but no technically researched, scientifically based answers to their accusations.
I watched the show on History Channel last night and had the whole topic not been so utterly tragic, I would have laughed at the ideas these theorists propose…
- A cruise missile launched from a C-130 hit the Pentagon
- The WTC was rigged with demolitions prior to the planes hitting
Oh, never mind, it’s all too silly anyway…

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry…
I’ve heard of this before. Laughable, isn’t it? As I said, their lack of understanding of hypothesis formulation, scientific theory, basic analysis, and fundamental research is elementary at best.
Chicken wire and cinder blocks to recreate the dynamics of a massive structural collapse? How absurd.
Hey Ham,
I don’t do anything to egg them on – but I have to tell you this stuff really makes me furious. Aside from the absurdity of it all, to take the view that any American, much less the President of the United States would hate their country so much that they would launch a devastating attack on its citizens is beyond political posturing and just plain evil. Besides the disrespect it shows to our president, the effect it must have on the victim’s families must be horrible. I cannot fathom people who have that kind of hatred in their hearts. i really can’t.
WC
WC, was really bothers me is the underlying hostilities they outwardly display to any authority figure. This hate and suspicion that drives them on is terrible and serves only to tear people apart.
Yeah, that’s what are country needs – more division, less tolerance all in the name of truth… Sheesh.
Well i am not sure that they “wiped the floor” to be honest. How a couple of journalists from popular mechanics can be considered “experts” against physics professors from the truth movement seems strange.
While it is pointless to debate detail on a blog such as this, it must be said that they did not explain how the entire plane that allegedly crashed in Pennsylvania disappeared with no visible wreckage , how the heat from diesel fuel could make WTC7 collapse, or where is the footage of the actual plane hitting the Pentagon has been hidden and why. There are other glaring ommisions, but the above are the main points.
If you look at the results from the highly regarded Zogby poll run in the U.S,
http://www.zogby.com/features/features.dbm?ID=231
you will find that roughly half of Americans believe it was an inside job. That is just the U.S. In Europe, Canada and down here in Australia, the mark is closer to 70%.
Make no bones about it, the whole world fears the U.S now as much as the world did Hitler in the 1940’s. And the actions of the U.S political elite will burden American’s children and grandchildren with the same war guilt that the Germans carry now due to Hitlers actions.
My grandad fought as a U.S Marine in WWII and instilled in me a strong loathing of fascist militarism. How he would be turning in his grave to see the U.S become the very thing he fought against all those years ago.
Americans are by and large good people, and just wish to live their lives peacefully like every other person in this planet. They don’t deserve the fate that is coming to them. God bless the American people. God curse the murderers that control them
FFDU,
Hmmm, certainly a different POV you provide. So, you think the USA has become a fascist dictatorship? A “governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism”?
So, did Bush appoint the new Democratic congress? Has he shut down 9/11truth.org or DailyKOS, the two most vocal blog critics? Oh, I forgot he nationalized our oil and gas industry… Oh, wait, that was Chavez.
Gee, now I’m confused.
Fascism was created by Benitto Musselini in the 1930’s, and the term actually means the merging of corporations and the state. Now ask yourself Ham, who does the U.S government really represent – the people or corporate America? Has the U.S government strengthened the U.S people’s constitution or have they weakened it? Are the U.S corporations paying for the “war on terror” and the American people profiting from it, or vice versa? Why did Cheyney’s Halliburton oill company secure the Iraqi oil rights (at the cost of Americans blood) without tender? Why did Bush Snr’s Carlyle group secure billions of war contracts (paid by the Amercan people’s taxes) without tender?
As to dictatorial power, the U.S government has it, lock, stock and barrel. Sadly, most Americans are ignorant of the peril they face (thanks to the U.S corporate media) if some maniacal U.S president decides to utilize the powers vested in him/her.

America was the heart of democracy. I pray for the day that they take their country back from the political elite who has stolen so much from them
down under,
Thanks for the link. Had a great read at globalresearch. Those Canadians, such kidders! Such a sense of humor.
Hi Ham
I didn’t actually look through that site when i added the link. Mainly, it was the first relevant link i found in Google (there is more comprehensive info somewhere – i was in a hurry)
A lot of alarmist crap at global research i agree. But the unbelievable amount of powers help by the President is fact. But while i’m here, check this vid out

Pretty thought provoking stuff – makes Popular Mechanic effort seem pretty lame, would’nt you agree
