Provide for the Common Defense

Those who stand for nothing, will fall for anything…

End of this Blog?

A review of Michelle Malkin’s Blog turned up this critical piece that may ultimately affect whether this blog can continue.

Understandibly, limiting critical military information from leaking out through soldier sponsored blogs is important, but shutting them down is a very serious and onerous technique.

Later in the article, an author has linked to a Field Manual  Army Regulation, which, ironically, is only available to the general public through the Freedom of Information Act.  I seriously doubt the author used it to find the document.

Army crack down on bloggers

End of which blog? Your blog? Nah, no way!

This latest development though is a load of hooey. I swear it seems that some folks stay up nights trying to think of ways to make our military miserable and isolated. The heck with them – if we have to form an underground pathway for the milblogs then I guess we do.

Harry Reid is a coward and a fraidy-cat – somebody should tell him he could never do a decent John Wayne impression and should stick to his usual sshtick as a Babs Streisand/Mr. Magoo morph.

Well, to be honest, I have to abide by my directives, so… if someone tells me to stop, I may have to. But I take every care to not put any operationally sensitive information out on the net.

Don’t get me going on Mr. Reid, I’m saving that for later.

    Ham,
I feel like a moron – I had no idea you were in the service. Thanks, man – I really appreciate your stepping up for us all.

I hope you don’t have to shut down your blog – I’d miss it.

    You over there?

You mean the subtle hints didn’t give me away? I actually didn’t want that to be a major theme of this site, there are already too many milblogs focusing on that subject, besides, I like to believe my life is too complex to stick within those boundaries in a blog.

My “about” page gives a general description of what I do and what I did in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. Right now, I’m teaching others to do the same at a major military post.

Thanks for your support from all of us who stand ready for your “defense”.

Nope, the subtle hints didn’t give you away at all. Though in retrospect perhaps they should have. To be honest, I haven’t had much contact with the military or military families -but I feel so strongly for all you guys. It hurts every time I hear or read some attempt to cut you guys down or the job you do. Surely, you’ve noticed that I despise hypocrisy in all its forms and sadly it runs wild where the military is concerned. Maybe we just need to round up the chicken hawks and send them to their own island to stew on their own.

Again, thanks for all you do for our country. I really can’t express how much I respect and admire you guys.

    WC,

Again, appreciate the support. But, I have a concern about the way you use the term “chicken hawk”. I understand the term to be derogative of those who propose military use as the catch all solution to political ends. Additionally, “chicken hawks” may have deliberately avoided personal military service, but still call upon our military.

Could you further explain your reference for me?
